Know Your Rights – travel time

14 December 2021 6:00pm–7:00pm

Know Your Rights, UNISON’s new event series for social care staff, kicks off with a session on travel time for domiciliary workers.

Tell me more!

UNSION won a four-year legal battle in 2020 to confirm that domiciliary care workers are on the job while travelling between visits – and therefore staff minimum wage calculations need to include time travelling.

It may sound easy, but many care companies are taking their time implementing this decision. It’s vital that domiciliary care staff know their rights around this so they can get the pay they deserve.

This session will cover what the ruling means and practical things staff can do if they don’t think they are not being paid the national minimum wage when they include their travel time.

Speakers

  • Matthew Egan, UNISON national officer for social care
  • Kate Ewing, former UNISON legal officer who ran the Haringey care case

Plus time for questions and answers.
