Online webinar
UNISON is committed to recruiting, representing and organising migrant workers in social care, but the complexity of immigration rules and ever-shifting government policy presents a real challenge to activists, caseworkers and staff when serious issues arise.
This briefing is designed to support activists and caseworkers address the exploitation of migrant care workers with resources, advice and support.
It also gives UNISON’s national team leading on migrant care workers an opportunity to hear about any good work happening in branches across the Eastern region so activists elsewhere in UNISON can benefit from good practice.
It will cover FAQs around immigration rules, workplace exploitation experienced due to visa rules and the most effective approach to take to common issues such as repayment clauses, threats of dismissal/deportation, deduction of wages, withholding of references and more.
Regardless of your position or location within the branch or region, if you are involved in supporting migrant workers, you are welcome to attend.
