Job Description – Office Manager
Responsible to – Branch Secretary
Responsible for – Clerical workers
Main Purpose
To maintain & improve all the administrative, financial and technical processes & procedures within the Branch Office. To provide telephone advice to members and stewards on work related matters.
Main Tasks
- Oversee and manage the smooth operation & improvement of all technology, including the computer systems
- Work with the Branch Treasurer to ensure accurate accounting of income and expenditure with a clear audit trail
- Manage all procurement arrangements with suppliers to ensure the Branch gets value for money
- Manage and on occasions assist the Branch clerical workers on the maintenance of the membership database and other tasks
- Work as part of a team covering the office, answering queries and offering advice to members and stewards
- Oversee and manage the smooth operation of all administrative functions within the Branch
- Undertake the payroll process for Branch Employed Staff with payroll provider
Required Skills
- Good general level of education, ideally to A level standard or equivalent
- Ability to use & develop IT systems
- Experience of managing office procedures, systems and people
- Excellent Communication skills
- Willingness to undertake training in UNISON systems such as RMS and OLBA
