Job Description – Office Manager

Responsible to – Branch Secretary

Responsible for – Clerical workers

Main Purpose

To maintain & improve all the administrative, financial and technical processes & procedures within the Branch Office. To provide telephone advice to members and stewards on work related matters.

Main Tasks

  1. Oversee and manage the smooth operation & improvement of all technology, including the computer systems
  2. Work with the Branch Treasurer to ensure accurate accounting of income and expenditure with a clear audit trail
  3. Manage all procurement arrangements with suppliers to ensure the Branch gets value for money
  4. Manage and on occasions assist the Branch clerical workers on the maintenance of the membership database and other tasks
  5. Work as part of a team covering the office, answering queries and offering advice to members and stewards
  6. Oversee and manage the smooth operation of all administrative functions within the Branch
  7. Undertake the payroll process for Branch Employed Staff with payroll provider

Required Skills

  1. Good general level of education, ideally to A level standard or equivalent
  2. Ability to use & develop IT systems
  3. Experience of managing office procedures, systems and people
  4. Excellent Communication skills
  5. Willingness to undertake training in UNISON systems such as RMS and OLBA
