About this job

Are you a people person with good listening and problem solving skills? Do you possess the determination to make a difference to people’s lives?

UNISON Eastern is looking for enthusiastic, flexible and resourceful individuals to support our work recruiting members and developing new activists. To undertake this role you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the trade union movement and previous experience as a recruiter, organiser and campaigner within a similar organisation would be an advantage.

Eight local organisers will be working in our regional schools project. Each post holder will work across one of our counties (Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire) in a large number of schools. The office base will either be Chelmsford or Bury St Edmunds. As these posts will require working with schools, requests for periods of annual leave during term time are unlikely to be approved

One local organiser will be based in the UNISON King’s Lynn Resource Centre, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and will work in a range of public service workplaces mainly across west Norfolk but also a couple of days each month in the Yarmouth/Lowestoft area.

All organisers need to be able to travel within the Eastern region as required and to London on an occasional basis for training or other purposes.
