Activist education goes online

With the covid-19 virus preventing us delivering our activist education programme face to face, we’ve begun looking at alternative ways to train our stewards.

UNISON is now offering activists the opportunity to train online, with courses for stewards, health and safety reps and union learning reps stage one and two already available.

Some of these have been designed as general courses by the TUC but they are also tailored specifically to UNISON members and their needs.

UNISON Eastern activist education lead Cheryl Godber said: “It is times like these that more than ever we need to ensure our activists are trained to deal with all the issues public service workers are facing.

“And it is times like these that we need to encourage members to become active in what ever way they can so they can help and support others.

“This new online programme shows just how committed we are to delivering on that old motto ‘educate, agitate, organise’ even if we have to do it in non-traditional ways.”
