UNISON Eastern members are being asked to nominate the activists and branches who have most impressed them over the last year for a One Weekend award.
The annual awards celebrate UNISON Eastern branches and activists across a range of categories, from health and safety to learning and campaigning to communications.
Winners will be crowned at the One Weekend in Wyboston Lakes.
Nominations are invited for
- Campaigning branch of the year,
- Health and safety branch of the year,
- Communications branch of the year,
- Activist of the year,
- Equalities activist of the year,
- Young activist of the year.
Trophies for recruiting branch of the year and learning branch of the year will be dished out based on UNISON records, but it’s up to the lay reps on the regional finance, development and organisation committee (FDO) to choose winners in the other categories.
They’ll then turn their attention to choosing the coveted overall branch of the year award from all the nominations.
UNISON Eastern regional secretary Tim Roberts said: “Every one of the amazing UNISON activists in the region and every branch deserves an award for the amazing work they do — day in, day out — representing, mobilising and organising members.
“But it’s important to pay a special tribute to those that have gone that little bit further and really made a splash over the last year.
“It’s important everyone puts forward their nominations for those branches and activists who have gone the extra mile. Even if it does make the FDO’s job even harder!”
