A sad farewell to Tracy Lavery

UNISON Eastern is sad to goodbye today to Tracy Lavery, one of the reps who fought tireless to stop outsourcing at Colchester Hospital.

A housekeeper for the last 18 years, she became a leading and much-loved figure in the  Colchester and Ipswich Area Health branch, dedicating her last year to her UNISON colleagues and the fight against privatisation in her trust.

She brought life to the picket lines in rain and shine alongside her colleagues.

UNISON area organiser Shen Batmaz said: “Tracy had a massive heart and was never scared to speak up and stand up for herself, her colleagues and anyone who needed help.

“She was voted most likely to make the bosses cry at the picket line awards and I will remember all the strength and love she showed every single day.”

Tracy will be remembered as a powerhouse with a big heart, and for her karaoke skills.

She died last month aged 57. UNISON sends condolences to her husband Keith and son Aiden.
