King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council has become the latest employer to sign UNISON’s Anti-Racism Charter.
By signing the charter, the council has committed to a range of actions including introducing a clear and visible race equality policy, carrying our ethnicity pay gap monitoring and delivering anti-racism and equality training.
UNISON West Norfolk Local Government Black members officer Naa Barkey Carboo welcomed the signing, saying: “It’s fantastic that the council has recognised the need and benefits in championing a racially diverse workforce.
The council can now lead by example, affirming its commitment to continue the work to address discrimination in any form, promote equality and aim to eradicate racism.”
And branch equalities officer Louise Gayton was similarly “delighted,” declaring that the singing was “a vital step in fostering an inclusive culture that empowers our workforce and strengthens trust with residents.”
