Tackling bullying and harassment

2 May 2023 9:45am–3:15pm

Online

We are pleased to offer this online course for trained activists and representatives who would like to learn more about bullying and harassment in the workplace.

What will the course help me to do?

The aims of this course are to:

  • Give participants an understanding of the issues of bullying and harassment at work.
  • Encourage participants to challenge bullying and harassment in the workplace individually and collectively.
  • Plan what to do on return to the work environment.

When does the course run?

You will be required to be online from 9.45am to 3.15pm on 2 May 2023. The course will be facilitated by Microsoft Teams and an online platform joining link will be sent prior to the course.

Please note this course was originally scheduled for March.

How much does the course cost?

There is a charge of £10. Your branch will fund this cost and they will be invoiced once you have completed the course.

Can I get time off to learn?

Yes, if you are in a recognised workplace the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 and the 1997 Safety Representative and Safety Committee Regulations give you the right to time off with pay to attend trade union courses. You just have to give your employer reasonable notice.

Guidance towards establishing what constitutes reasonable time off can be found in the ACAS Code of Practice.

Can I get time off to learn online?

Yes. Online learning is not an alternative to paid release from work. The law still applies, whether learning takes place away from work or in work, at a workstation or in a company learning centre.
