Thanks for Nothing! Higher education strike ballot online rally

26 July 2021 8:30pm–9:30pm

UNISON is balloting its members in 48 universities across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland over the 2020 pay freeze.

Despite the hardest years of their working lives, university staff received a 0% pay ‘rise’ in August. Once you take inflation into account, that’s a pay cut.

UNISON University of East Anglia invites higher education workers from across the UK to this online rally to find out what’s happening.

Speakers

  • Christina McAnea, UNISON general secretary
  • Clive Lewis, MP for Norwich South
  • Dr Nik Johnson, mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
  • Ruth Levin, UNISON senior education officer
  • Plus music from Ken Connor of the Red Flags!

Co-chaired by Amanda Chenery-Howes, UNISON University of East Anglia branch secretary and chair of Eastern region higher education committee, and Mobina Begum, chair of UNISON Higher Education service group executive.
