This three day course is aimed at branch activists who want to organise around UNISON’s learning agenda. It will help you work with members and employers around learning and also looks at organising and negotiating around learning. We will run these courses when there are sufficient ULR’s in a geographical area – ULR’s will be contacted individually and dates will be advertised on our website.
What will it be about?
The key aim of this course is that after completing this course and the assignments, participants will feel confident to carry out their role as a UNISON Union learning rep to:
- Promote lifelong learning in UNISON and in the workplace
- Investigate the learning needs of people in a place of employment
- Find and assess information on education and training opportunities
- Present information appropriately
- Work with employers and the UNISON Branch to promote lifelong learning
- Offer support to other learners
- Understand effective ways of assessing learning needs
- Gain practice in planning and negotiating for learning activity in the workplace
- Understand the main elements of learning agreements
