How to survive summer

Summer is well and truly upon us and what better way to spend it than making new friends, and developing new skills at the 2017 UNISON summer school.

Our summer school will be held in Cambridge between 14 and 18 August. There are loads of courses for you to choose from. You don’t have to commit to the whole week as you can join a particular course that’s of interest or you can do them all. It’s entirely your call.

If you’re a new steward why not try the organising stewards course? You’re sure to get a basic understanding about the role of a workplace steward and it will provide you with the skills to help get started.

We also have a range of course for existing stewards wanting to learn new skills. We have the further reps course, which will take a more in depth look at dealing with disciplinary and grievance cases. Or you may want to understand more about the Equality Act 2010, or explore the impact domestic abuse has in the workplace. Not a problem, there are courses covering those too.

Don’t be put off if you have children and are worrying about childcare. We have organised a crèche to take care of that. So, what are you waiting for? Have a look at the full programme and apply to join us at #SummerSchool2017.

More information on the courses being run is available on the Events and Courses section of the website.
