Eastern region pilots new reps recertification course

UNISON Eastern has been picked to trial a brand new online version of the recertification course.

The course is an integral part of UNISON’s activist education arsenal, with all reps expected to undergo recertification every five years to make sure our activists keep up to date with legal changes and organising priorities.

It’s designed for reps to discover new initiatives, share experiences and plan how to build a strong union which can withstand the huge pressures facing public-service workers.

Participants will receive the training via weekly online seminars over one month. To make sure they can fit in training around other responsibilities they’ll be able to pick one of three sessions each week.

The results of the pilot will help influence how this essential course is delivered across the rest of the union.

UNISON Eastern activist education lead Cheryl Godber said: “We’re incredible excited to offer this course to our reps in the Eastern region.

“Reps are the bedrock of our trade union so making sure every one is kept up to date with legislation effecting trade unionists, as well as how UNISON is adapting to the ever-changing industrial environment.”
