As part of the UNISON Eastern One Weekend 2024, we are again offering Communicating to Win, a course on making the most of how we communicate as a union and looking at how the branch can start to implement a comms strategy.
It’s intended for branch secretaries or senior other branch leaders.
The course runs all day Saturday and Sunday morning.
What will the course help me to do?
The aim of the programme is to provide you with techniques, information and knowledge to enable you to lead your committee through drawing up a branch-specific communication strategy.
You will gain an understanding of and give thought to:
- Common pitfalls which hinder effective communication;
- How to use our communications to build the membership and activist base and increase our bargaining strength;
- Techniques for effective workplace conversations;
- Other methods of communication beyond emails and conversations;
- How to communicate effectively in a variety of challenging scenarios;
- How to embed effective communications into day-to-day branch practice.
